Abraham Twerski - When Do the Good Things Start?
The problem is that some people have fantasies of what life is supposed to be like, and if the reality doesn't measure up to their fantasies, they feel cheated. They are rarely satisfied with anything: home, job, marriage, vacation, automobile, children. Nothing can ever measure up to their unrealistic expectations.
... If you feel you've never been happy, there is a good chance that you haven't really been deprived of happiness, but for some reason you are unable to feel happy for the things that bring some happiness to others. Don't spend your life in misery because your fantasies are not being fulfilled. Get some competent counselling and bring your expectations into line. |
