Abraham Twerski - When Do the Good Things Start?
Indulging in self-pity is juvenile behavior. It is understandable in small children, but mature adults should try to rectify things that have gone wrong instead of wallowing in misery and pity themselves for suffering.
Of course, taking corrective action depends on having the confidence that you can do things to extricate yourself from difficulties. If you lack self-confidence, you might opt just to stay where you are and feel sorry for yourself. If a friend or relative drags you out of your misery, you're lucky. But you can't get count on it. It is better to get out of it yourself. |
